Background
The Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT issued requirements for demonstrating EHR Meaningful Use (Final Rules on Meaningful Use Standards and Certifications) under the ARRA HITECH program. This program allocates $27.3 billion in Medicare and Medicaid payment incentives to providers who demonstrate that they meet Meaningful Use standards.
